TOWNSHIP OF HAMPTON OFFICIAL NOTICE The Township of Hampton Council at their duly noticed Regular Meeting on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, at 3101 McCully Rd., Allison Park, Pa., will consider and, if appropriate, may enact an ordinance captioned and summarized as follows: FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT ORDINANCE - AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ALL PERSONS, PARTNERSHIPS, BUSINESSES, AND CORPORATIONS TO OBTAIN A PERMIT FOR ANY CONSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPMENT; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SUCH PERMITS; SETTING FORTH CERTAIN MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT WITHIN AREAS OF THE TOWNSHIP WHICH ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING; PROVIDING FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF SUCH FLOODPLAIN AREAS IN ACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) REQUIREMENTS; AND ESTABLISHING PENALTIES FOR ANY PERSONS WHO FAIL, OR REFUSE TO COMPLY WITH, THE REQUIREMENTS OR PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE. Summary of the proposed Ordinance: Pursuant to the responsibility delegated to the Township by the Pennsylvania Floodplain Management Act of 1978, the proposed Floodplain Management Ordinance identifies Floodplain Areas within the Township classified as "Special Flood Hazard Areas" ("SFHA's") in the "Flood Insurance Study" ("FIS") and accompanying "Flood Insurance Rate Maps" ("FIRM's") dated September 26, 2014, as issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); designates and sets forth duties and responsibilities of a Township "Floodplain Administrator"; requires a Floodplain Permit before commencing any construction or development within the Township; establishes application, permit, and inspection requirements, procedures, and fees; regulates and imposes certain flood proofing, elevation, construction and design standards, and other general and special requirements and restrictions, in designated floodplain areas; establishes procedures and standards for variances and for appeals; provides for enforcement; and establishes penalties for violations thereof. The proposed ordinance and accompanying FEMA Map may be viewed during normal office hours at the Municipal Building or at the office of this newspaper. W. Christopher Lochner Municipal Manager
