HYDRODEMOLITION AND OVERLAY TEST FOR LIBERTY BRIDGE DECK ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA HDR Engineering, Inc. has been contracted by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to perform a rehabilitation design for the Liberty Bridge in Allegheny County. In conjunction with the design, a test will be conducted on the bridge's concrete filled steel grid deck. The purpose of the test will be to evaluate options for replacement of the existing bituminous overlay. HDR will require services of a Contractor to construct the overlay test areas. The work is scheduled to take place over the fourth weekend in September. Items of work to be performed include: • Setup and removal of traffic control • Removal of existing bituminous overlay • Hydrodemolition and abrasive blast cleaning of the concrete substrate • Placement of specified overlay materials to restore the test areas of the deck to grade • Containment and proper disposal of all wastes in accordance with all local laws. Prospective bidders must submit evidence of meeting qualifications along with their bid including: Contractor has successfully performed hydrodemolition and overlay placement on at least 5 verifiable PennDOT projects with deck areas over 300 square yards in the last five years. Prospective bidders must also have a representative attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting to be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania (CAWP) located at: CAWP 1201 Banksville Road Pittsburgh, PA 15216. Bids are due by 1PM, Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in HDR's Pittsburgh Office located at 11 Stanwix Street, Suite 800, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Bids will be opened Tuesday, September 3, 2013. HDR will award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. HDR reserves the right to reject any or all bids deemed not in conformance with the bid requirements. Note that the successful bidder will not be precluded from submitting a bid for the overall Liberty Bridge Rehabilitation project when advertised by PennDOT.
